Counter Terrorism Security Advisor
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Counter Terrorism Security Advisor to join the East Midlands Specialist Operations Unit (EMSOU) as part of the Counter Terrorism Policing team. As a Counter Terrorism Security Advisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery and development of protective security strategies, in response to regional and national priorities.
What you’ll be doing:
- Engaging with other departments within the police service and outside agencies to encourage a coordinated approach by building positive and effective partnerships.
- To be accountable to the national CT network for maintaining accurate records of locations vulnerable to International Terrorism and Domestic Extremism within the region.
- Making independent and balanced decisions to resolve issues as they arise based on specialist CT protective security knowledge, professional experience.
The must haves:
- Must have good current and historical awareness of terrorism and domestic extremism (including attack methodologies) and the police and partnership responses to it.
- Proven record of working in a confidential environment, displaying high levels of integrity and discretion.
- Hold a full driving license and prepared to travel throughout the East Midlands Policing region and occasionally nationally.

Salary: - £33,264 - £40,893
For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
Security Requirements
This post requires regular access to sensitive material and applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo enhanced security clearance before taking up the post. The material may be of sensitivity to the UK and may therefore be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances, dual nationals (of which one element is British) may be granted access.
However, if potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed, the post holder will not be permitted access the systems or material required for the role and will not therefore be able to perform their duties. For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants who do not hold or achieve the required levels of security clearance requirements cannot be offered the post.
