Administration Volunteer

Vacancy Information

Do you have great administration skills that you would be willing to put to good use by volunteering with our Force? We are looking to recruit a number of experienced volunteer administrators to support our policing teams across the Force on a flexible voluntary basis.

Typically, we will ask you to volunteer at least six hours a week between the hours of 08:00 to 16:00 from Monday to Friday. There may be some weekend and evening opportunities available, but this will be dependent on demand.

You may be asked to volunteer at any of our police premises across Surrey, but as this is a flexible role you can volunteer at the times and locations most convenient to you.

Chief Constables' Message

We really welcome your interest in joining our Police Force. It is a privilege to lead the teams in Surrey Police and Sussex Police who continuously work selflessly and tirelessly in order to keep people in our counties safe.

We are looking for talented and inspirational people who put the needs of the public at the heart of everything that they do and who want to make a difference. If you feel you are that person then we want to hear from you.

We wish you all the very best with your application.

Chief Constable Tim De Meyer & Chief Constable Jo Shiner

The Role & Key Responsibilities

As one of our valued police support volunteers, you will become part of our policing family supporting a range of different policing teams across the Force.

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe; through your volunteering you will help us to achieve this.

As you can imagine, many aspects of policing involve administration of some kind. Your voluntary responsibilities could range from inputting data onto our computer systems, making phone calls, typing reports and assisting with the coordination of events. The role profile attached to the bottom of this advert outlines the full range of tasks and responsibilities.

Skills & Experience

You will need to have administration experience and good communication skills for this role. Competence in the use of Microsoft Office programmes is essential as you will be required to use Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and a regular basis.

Your volunteer placements will vary, so you will need to be a flexible and adaptable team member. Attention to detail and accuracy will be important for this role, and you will need to be able to prioritise and work to deadlines.

Previous experience of volunteering and/or working within a police environment would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Why Volunteer With Us?

We take pride in looking after our volunteers and through your volunteering you will have the opportunity to:

  • Experience policing first-hand
  • Meet new people and teams
  • Learn and develop your skills
  • Support your local community

As one of our valued police support volunteers, you have access to our on-site gyms and a range of sports clubs. Volunteering with us will also allow you to apply for other voluntary and paid positions within the Force.
