Location: Hindlip

Full Time/Part Time: Full Time

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday 9-5 but significant flexibility is available if needed

The West Mercia Police Firearms Training Unit (FTU) are seeking to recruit 3 x PC National Firearms Instructors (NFI).

NFIs in West Mercia Police are ARVOs whose duties include the planning and delivery of firearms training, associated tactics and related subjects across multiple role profiles detailed within the National Police Firearms Training Curriculum (NPFTC).

Successful candidates will be posted to the Firearms Training Unit at Hindlip, Worcester (West Mercia Police HQ) where they will work a Monday – Friday shift pattern

 There will also be requirements to fulfil on-call responsibilities across a variety of role profiles as demand dictates.

Essential Criteria

  • When planning and delivering training packages, NFIs must ensure that the content is both relevant and realistic. It is therefore essential that NFIs are able to draw on their own experience to help contextualise the lesson and enhance the student’s learning experience. Applicants must therefore be current and competent in the ARVO role profile with a minimum of 2 years service in the role and be able to demonstrate a breadth of operational exposure during deployments.
  • NFIs are required to teach new learners how to safely handle police issue firearms whilst demonstrating their ability to deliver accuracy to the minimum required standards dictated by classification shoots. They are also responsible for ‘fault finding’ and zeroing police issue weapons for use during operational deployments. It is therefore essential that applicants can evidence on Chronicle (or alternative data management system for external candidates) their suitability for the role based on their own performance and consistency.
