Public Protection Intelligence Officer
Principal Responsibility
Working in a multi-agency environment we ensure the protection of the public by the effective management of those sexual and violent offenders who pose the greatest risk of harm. Identifying those who potentially could cause harm who do not yet fall under any statutory obligations and informing relevant agencies in order to put measures in place to prevent this occurring
In particular to:
- Manage the quality and security of intelligence used by the Force through the deployment of effective and appropriate systems and procedures.
- Disseminate intelligence in the appropriate manner to relevant organisations, departments and/or individuals, whilst maintaining the required confidentiality, sensitivity and duty of care.
- Gather intelligence to facilitate the achievement of crime and disorder reduction objectives. Ensure intelligence is obtained ethically and in accordance and in accordance with the relevant legislation, policy, protocols and codes of practice.
- Provide specialist advice and knowledge to colleagues, partners and other individuals (including offenders) and agencies in relation to all related MAPPA activity (specifically sexual offences legislation) in support of Force priorities and to enable compliance with Force policies and working practices.
