Hours: 35.5 Hours per week (Office Based)

Contract: Permanent

Humberside Police are looking for a highly motivated individual to join them in their specialist department.

As an Intel Desk Officer you will develop and evaluate intelligence, assessing the threat, risk, harm, vulnerabilities and opportunities which exist and identifying gaps.

The post holder will ensure all intelligence is linked accordingly and appropriate restrictions are applied to safeguard sensitive and confidential information.

The post holder will use regular levels of initiative and be responsible for advising Intelligence Managers to enable them to make decisions on operational issues pertaining to this area.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintains awareness of innovation within intelligence to ensure implementation of latest techniques and tactics, best practice, and information relevant to the role.
  • Provides intelligence support to live and spontaneous incidents, working with key stakeholders to put immediate risk reduction measures in place.
  • Monitors the Force Intelligence Bureau SPOC box, receiving information, intelligence and requests from a variety of sources, resolving queries or directing to the appropriate recipient. Applies an appropriate level of scrutiny to each correspondence received and sent to ensure that information security is maintained, ensuring all matters are actioned in a timely manner considering those queries which are urgent and prioritise as required.
  • Acts as a Single Point of Contact for the Force on a variety of Force systems, such as the Police National Database (PND), carries out research on use of systems highlighting risks as appropriate. Acts as the link between system and service providers and local technical leads to ensure system updates are communicated effectively and without issue.
  • Makes enquiries with police and non-police information sources, to further develop and clarify information, endorsing intelligence reports with well-reasoned conclusions.
  • Utilises restricted, sensitive and confidential information to create intelligence products, such as Daily Briefings and Firearms Assessment Packages in line with the National Briefing Model, to enable intelligence led policing and supports other teams across the Force carry out actions in a safe and effective manner.

What the role requires:

  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience of working with the general public and dealing with potential conflict situations.
  • Willing to undertake and successfully pass the Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) qualification (to complete within 12 months of appointment), and continued IPP compliance as directed by the College of Policing.
  • Experience of preparing detailed reports and presenting information in a variety of formats
  • Previous administration experience incorporating a wide range of duties such as administrative procedures, telephone queries, record keeping etc.
  • Excellent communication skills to deal sympathetically but positively with tact and diplomacy.
  • Possesses an appreciation of the need for confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision when required.
  • Carries out tasks in an accurate and methodical manner with an eye for detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritise workload.
