FAS Drugs Laboratory Technician

Delivering expert forensic drug analysis and specialist advice to support justice across the East Midlands

Join us as a FAS Drugs Laboratory Technician where you’ll be working as part of a five-force collaboration of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire you’ll process and deliver the preservation, identification, examination and reporting analysis of illicit drugs examinations.

You’ll support the FAS Drugs Reporting Scientists in the routine reporting of streamlined forensic reports and witness statements for the five forces.

You will provide specialist advice and knowledge regarding the FAS Drugs Laboratory.

What you’ll be doing

  • Use a range of specialist techniques and equipment within the FAS Drugs unit
  • Process and report results of analysis to accredited standards
  • Provide professional levels of customer services and be responsible for the reception and return of submissions to the unit

The must haves

  • Hold a science-based qualification, degree in forensic science, chemistry and pharmacology or have experience working within an accredited laboratory
  • Able to work under pressure, prioritising and planning workloads
  • Good problem-solving skills and commitment to continuous improvement
