We are looking for a Vetting Enquiry Researcher The role is office based, with the opportunity for agile working at the line manager’s discretion once initial training is completed. Please note that a minimum of the first three months will be office-based to support onboarding and training.

This is a part time role of 30 hours on a fixed term until 31st March 2026. Working days can be discussed as there is flexibility.

Overall Purpose of the role 

To research, obtain, evaluate and report on a wide range of information obtained for the purpose of Police Vetting and National Security Vetting in accordance with the Vetting Code of Practice and APP. An effective regime is a high risk area of North Wales Police business which relies on the accurate and comprehensive collation of intelligence and other police and non-police information obtained from local and national systems.

To prepare detailed comprehensive risk assessed vetting reports, with recommendations, for the Force Vetting Manager so that any challenges to decisions can be supported with full documentary evidence.

What you need to apply 

  • Have a HNC or equivalent level of qualification, or possess an equivalent amount of relevant proven experience, be competent in the use of Microsoft packages.
  • Have a pro-active approach, with proven experience of researching, analysing and assessing information in order to identify risk. An inquisitive investigative mind-set would be beneficial.
  • Proven experience of sound decision making skills.
  • Self-motivated with good organisational and administrative skills. The ability to prioritise and meet deadlines whilst ensuring accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
  • Proven experience of handling information of a confidential, sensitive and personal nature.
  • High level of communication skills both written and verbal. Relate confidently to staff at all levels of the Organisation.
  • Proven ability to enter and gather information from a range of sources using appropriate computer systems and to retrieve and present the information in a suitable comprehensive format.
  • To produce concise and informative management information and other associated documents.
  • Highest ethical and professional standards in respect of confidentiality and access to sensitive information.
