Technical Support Co-ordinator

The Applications Delivery area comprises of people-focused, technical specialists whose passion is maintaining robust, highly available business systems which allow policing information to be available when and where required.

This position will be working within one of our teams in the Applications Delivery area providing technical and business functional support for the current CAD (computer aided dispatch) system as well as a variety of critical business systems. If you have good knowledge of IT system administration and consider yourself to be a strong communicator with good analytical and numerical skills, then we would like to hear from you.

In this role you will:-

  • Work within a designated team and across virtual teams as necessary
  • Ensure the efficient management of the system data and relevant technical applications
  • Ensure the delivered services will operate to agreed performance standards, governance and ITIL practices
  • Technically support the organisation and support the IT Directorate services and products to meet the needs of the force
  • Ensure conformity and quality standards by managing input of data, including developing and issuing formal guidance
  • Provide guidance and compliancy of procedural support for high risk incidents / victims and locations in relation to confidential / high profile and sensitive information
  • Work on an agreed range of performance outcomes, to pro-actively recommend service improvement measures. Undertakes developmental or remedial actions as directed in response to review or business feedback
  • Assist with the service support activities within the IT incident/programme, change management process
  • Work as part of the team and carry out other activities within the service management team
  • Provide technical knowledge to a range of technical support and development services 

Required Skills and Experience:-

  • Ability to manage IT applications user accounts, permissions, and system settings securely and efficiently
  • Understanding of system architecture, configuration, and operational workflows.
  • Knowledge of IT system administration
  • Experience of keeping accurate records
  • Good customer service skills
  • Good analytical and numerical skills to ensure input, retrieval and manipulation of statistical and other data / information from a variety of sources

Driving licence: There will be occasions when you are required to travel around the force area therefore the successful person will need to hold a full UK driving licence.  Please note that following a successful probation period, this post has a potential on call requirement for which appropriate allowances will be paid. 

To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 5 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 5 years.
