An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Force Authorities Bureau Advisor.

The Force Authorities Bureau manage RIPA 2000, IPA 2016 and Police Act 1997 applications in compliance with relevant legislation, current case law and best practice as set by the Investigatory Powers Commissioner.  In addition, it provides services in regard to the Covert Surveillance and Acquisition of Communications Data applications providing strategic and proactive business direction, identifying best value, performance management, standards of operational and evidential delivery and the review of policy and procedures.

 

The key responsibility of this role is to manage RIPA directed and intrusive surveillance, IPA Targeted Equipment Interference, communications data, and Police Act applications in regard to property interferences and OPT applications. Also to manage expectations, prescribed timescales and engaging with stakeholders in order to provide dedicated support and advice to the Forces Authorising Officer, including the presentation of relevant applications for approval by ACPO.

Along with all other posts in Force Crime, Intelligence and Specialist Operations Departments, this role will require an enhanced level of vetting.

Capability to travel across the Force is required in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly.  Due to unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working public transport may not be suitable.  For this reason a full driving licence is considered essential for this role.
