Salary: The starting salary is £40,519 which includes allowances totalling £3,009
The salary is broken down as £37,510 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £40,141 Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

This is an exciting opportunity to join MO4’s Digital Forensics (DF) team as a Digital Forensic Junior Manager based at the heart of policing on BCU. We are looking for driven, flexible and enthusiastic individuals to work with our existing DF Junior Managers and together have responsibility for 60 Digital Forensic Assistants (DFAs) who complete mobile device extractions using kiosks situated on each BCU, and 12 Digital Forensic Technicians (DFT) who manage triage services for the OCSAE teams.
Reporting to a Digital Forensic Manager, this role will have line management responsibility for up to 6 staff on a BCU.
The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in technology and have management and problem-solving skills; training will be provided in kiosk extractions and the law, policy and strategies that allow for phone extractions. Flexibility and dynamism are key to this role as you may work across more than one police building and the role holder will therefore need to be flexible.
Duties include but are not limited to.
- Maintain a visible presence to your allocated team/BCU.
- Manage the submission of requests for digital device extraction.
- Apply law, policy and strategy in the assessment of submissions.
- Manage the allocation of submissions to DFA staff for action.
- Provide services over extended hours 7am-7pm and one weekend in twelve.
- Line Manage the DFT based in the local OCSAE team.
- Manage resources across area of responsibility considering sickness, training and annual leave and staff abstraction due to operational demands
- Complete fair and objective Personal Development Reviews recognising personal achievement and identifying areas for development
- Manage requests for Management Information and Key Performance Indicators and review results for accuracy
- Develop knowledge and skills of individuals to ensure best possible results are achieved. Identify needs of staff and plan development opportunities using a variety of activities to improve performance
- To work within the Directorate’s Quality Management System and actively participate in the continuous improvement of the system by engaging in audits, competence tests, reporting non-conformances, etc. and suggesting changes to improve the system
- Manage customer queries / complaints to reach a satisfactory conclusion for all parties involved. Liaise with senior managers where appropriate or as required
- Identify service improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of team
- Arrange support for DFAs attending court
Location

Please note your initial place of work will be Lambeth HQ. Your location will change once you have finished training/mentoring and are ready to be deployed.

Training
Training, between 0900 and 1700, will take place at Lambeth HQ and last between 6-8 weeks; agile/flexible working will not be possible during this time. Successful candidates must pass Grade I and tool training.
Additional Information
If successful in your application, you will need to provide a DNA and fingerprint elimination sample for Forensic Services' embargo database.
These roles are currently standard hours and do not attract shift allowance. However, in the future, Digital Forensics may be introducing a 24/7 operating model as part of an investment and transformation plan to ensure the best service to support operational policing. These teams will work on a rotational shift pattern compromising early, late and night shifts, including weekends. Approximately 20% of the overall staff in the Digital Forensics department will be required to support it. When these posts are in place they will attract an additional 20% shift allowance plus weekend premium payments on top of the salary advertised above. All new staff are eligible to be placed on a shift rota subject to the relevant notice given; however, in the first instance, placements on these teams will be allocated to those who volunteer; any remaining places will be assigned by management and will also be subject to specific skills required to support out of hours services.
