Intelligence Support Officer

Applicants are invited to apply for the post of Intelligence Support Officer. The successful applicant will work within the Force Intelligence Bureau, based at Hatfield. The post holder will be reviewing and disseminating intelligence in line with the force mission of preventing crime and harm, catch criminals and solve crime, protect victims and the vulnerable. To achieve this the post holder will be able to use force IT systems to collect, collate, assess and disseminate intelligence identifying threat, harm risk, patterns and trends.

Successful applicants will be working within a team formed of Intelligence Officers.

This role is key to supporting the briefing and tasking of frontline officers and brings with it a significant sense of achievement. The post holder will not only be responsible for the review of intelligence, and but will be expected to identify areas of risk and support key reactive operations and events. Support the function of multiple workstreams including requests for government agencies and other forces.

The post holder will have good interpersonal skills, the ability to prioritise work and an enquiring mind. They will also be expected to promote the work of the intelligence unit in a professional manner.

    Please note that, as part of the vetting process, the BCH Vetting Unit may need to contact your current line manager for a Supervisor Appraisal. This requirement aligns with the 2025 National Guidelines for Vetting (APP 6.5.18).

  • Renewing vetting clearance 
  • Moving into a role requiring MV clearance (even if you currently hold MV clearance) 
  • Moving into or working in a role involving close contact with vulnerable individuals
