Job Title: Disclosure Case Officer – Complex Investigation Team - 01

Salary: The starting salary is £40,519, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.

The salary is broken down as £37,510 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £40,141 Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Complex Investigation Team within Specialist Crime of the Metropolitan Police.

We are looking for disclosure case officers as defined by the Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act 1996 (CPIA). This will involve liaising with the Officer in the case (OIC), reviewing material, making redactions and completing schedules as required for submission to the CPS. Depending on the complexity, investigations are either managed on HOLMES or CRIS/Connect.

Other duties include assessment of referrals into the Disclosure Team to provide assistance to other investigations and following up with a written response to the referral. This is in order to manage the work load the Disclosure Team takes on, complying with its terms of reference and to ensure the team are not overloaded.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and assess case material in line with CPIA and DG6 guidance to ensure all relevant material is revealed appropriately, supporting fair trial outcomes.
  • Prepare and maintain disclosure schedules and evidential records, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for investigators, CPS, and courts.
  • Identify and escalate sensitive material requiring redaction or restricted handling to safeguard individuals and comply with legal requirements.
  • Liaise with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and defence teams to progress disclosure matters, resolve queries, and ensure compliance with legal standards.
  • Engage with internal colleagues and partner agencies to contribute to case strategy and align disclosure activity with investigative objectives.
  • Provide summaries and evidence in court when required, representing the MPS professionally and ensuring judicial directions are met.
  • Carry out disclosure reviews of third-party data and complete case progression actions as directed by the supervising officer.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of disclosure processes by applying best practice and sharing learning within the Complex Investigation Team.

Who we're looking for:

  • Knowledge of DG6 and Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act 1996 (CPIA).
  • Knowledge of FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) and its application to disclosure and redaction.
  • Knowledge of case file management and safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Strong written communication skills to produce accurate disclosure schedules, evidential summaries, and redactions.
  • Analytical skills to interpret and evaluate complex material.
  • Ability to work with sensitive material, maintaining professionalism and resilience.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and case management systems (e.g. HOLMES, Connect, IIP) following training.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to investigative teams.
  • Experience in Disclosure and the role of ‘Disclosure Officer’.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act 1996 (CPIA).
  • Experience in Disclosure and the role of ‘Disclosure Officer’.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act 1996 (CPIA).
  • Thorough knowledge of Attorney General Guidelines on Disclosure 2020.
  • HOLMES experience.
  • RV/CTC and CVGS vetting or the willingness to undertake vetting.
  • Willingness to complete mandatory Disclosure Training, namely CILEX – Specialist Course in Disclosure.

In addition to your starting salary all professional and support staff are eligible for an additional location allowance of £1,928
