Staffordshire Police are seeking a passionate and motivated person to join the PPST Team within our Learning & Development team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong teaching, training or coaching background to join a successful, highly motivated and experienced team of trainers that deliver training to Police Officers and Police Staff of all ranks and roles.

About the Role

The post-holder will demonstrate the capability to deliver training programmes that teach Police Officers and Staff how to effectively protect themselves and others as they carry out their operational duties. The team also deliver bespoke training packages, train and assess new Police Officers and Staff and offer bespoke development for individuals and teams as necessary. Training helps to ensure that Staffordshire Police provide an effective service to the public where protection, mitigation of risk and law enforcement is concerned.

The ideal candidate will have a proven understanding and capability of learning and development processes (learning needs analysis, design, delivery, evaluation and environmental scanning) together with the ability to clearly communicate with, and positively influence, staff at all levels in the areas of learning and development.

As a PPST trainer, you will deliver:

  • Public and Personal Safety Training in line with College of Policing Licencing requirements to all Staffordshire Police employees that are exposed to risk.
  • PPST to all Student Officers from various recruitment programs.
  • Method of Entry training to selected officers across the force.
  • Specialist training to departments that require it such as Staffordshire’s Armed Response Vehicle Officers.

Location

This post is based at Staffordshire Police’s dedicated PPST Training Facility on Beacon Park Industrial Estate, next to Police HQ in Stafford, Staffordshire. Some travel is required occasionally, and the applicant must possess a full driving licence.

The application process will include:

 

  • JRFT (Job Related Fitness Test)
  • Assessment centre (where skills relevant to the role will be assessed),
  • Classroom presentation
  • Interview

The JRFT and Assessment Centre will take place on one day. Successful applicants will then progress to the Classroom Presentation and Interview.
