ERSOU - ROCU - PC/DC - Research & Development / Case Builder– Child Sexual Abuse & Exploitation - CSAE (Undercover Online - UCOL)
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Child Sexual Abuse & Exploitation - CSAE (Undercover Online - UCOL), under Operation Excalibur.The Research and Development role is challenging, but fascinating and exciting. The department is a unique function within Policing, to provide a dedicated, proactive investigation capability in response to the threat of online CSAE (Child Sexual Abuse / Exploitation). To protect and safeguard any child from sexual abuse, exploitation or the threat of sexual abuse and protect the vulnerable from any person who uses the internet to commit offences. As a dedicated investigator, you will develop, disseminate evidence and intelligence which emanates from the deployment of Relevant Sources Online (UCOL’s).
The role requires intelligence and evidential reviews. Operation Excalibur investigations team is dedicated to supporting operations tackling the highest harm online subjects and platforms across the internet. The tactic exploits and enhances online activity into intelligence and evidence, supporting the ROCU, national and international law enforcement. Initially, managing intelligence products, you will gain first-hand knowledge of utilising the UCOL tactic for the disruption of the threat of online CSAE (Child Sexual Abuse / Exploitation).
Your work will result in the dissemination of intelligence and evidence to protect and safeguard children from sexual abuse, exploitation or the threat of sexual abuse and protect the vulnerable, whilst bringing offenders to Justice nationally and internationally. The work conducted by the Op Excalibur team delivers significant operational results day in day out.

The team operate between the hours of 8am and 4pm, Monday to Friday. However, tackling online CSAE requires applicants to be able to be flexible to meet operational demands (sometimes at short notice and weekends).
The Op Excalibur role is a fixed location; most functions will need to be delivered at a designated / appropriately secure site. However, there will be occasions where some functions can be undertaken remotely, either at an ERSOU or local Police Force building, or from home (subject to suitability checks).
Your designated place of work will be in Kent. There will be an occasional requirement to travel within the eastern region for operational meetings and/or deployments. A work vehicle will be provided for this purpose. This role does not include the interviewing of children or other victims of sex offences, but occasionally the grading of indecent images of children. Experience within a covert environment is desirable but not essential – if you are enthusiastic and driven, we will train and mentor you to become a skilled and accredited intelligence development officer. A full training pathway and mentoring will be provided to the successful candidates, and they will be expected to attain IPP accreditation
