The role
Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Communications and Engagement Department as a Digital Engagement Adviser.
We’re looking for a creative and forward-thinking Digital Engagement Adviser to enhance our online presence and strengthen how we connect with audiences across our digital channels. We have an established presence on Facebook, X, Instagram, Nextdoor, LinkedIn, but we’re looking to expand onto channels including YouTube.
In this maternity cover role, you’ll play a pivotal part in developing our channels, getting hands-on to create digital content, managing our online platforms and using insight and analytics to drive increased engagement and reach. You will lead on researching and trialling new approaches to help us engage fresh audiences and expand our digital footprint.
What you’ll do
- Research, identify and recommend best practice in digital channel development to help shape and improve our approach.
- Plan, source and create high‑quality content that supports and enhances our existing digital channels.
- Analyse the effectiveness of our digital engagement activity and provide clear, insightful reports to the Senior Digital Engagement Adviser.
- Support proactive and reactive management of online misinformation and comments, helping to protect the integrity of our channels.
- Advise colleagues and stakeholders across the Force on effective digital communication approaches and opportunities.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of our social media strategy, ensuring content is engaging, consistent and aligned with organisational priorities.

What you’ll bring

Terms of appointment
This is a fixed term role subject to a six-month probationary period.
