North Yorkshire Police are pleased to announce that we are recruiting for a Sergeant to lead the newly formed Road Crime Unit (RCU), this is a newly formed team within NYP. We are accepting applications from transferee Home Office Police Sergeants who are confirmed in rank and have the essential skills as listed below. About the Post

 

North Yorkshire Police are recruiting for a proactive and dynamic Sergeant to lead our Road Crime Unit (RCU). This is an exciting opportunity for experienced officers who want to make a real impact by tackling serious and organised criminality on our road network.

Our recruitment campaign is live, and applications are now being invited for this specialist role within the rank of Sergeant. As part of Specialist Operations, you will lead a team dedicated to intercepting criminals, targeting organised crime groups, disrupting cross-border crime, tackling the highest harm offenders across the force. You will be paramount to enhancing road safety through intelligence-led policing and advanced tactics.

 

Essential Requirements

At the time of application, candidates must confirm:

  • You are a substantive Sergeant.
  • Officer Safety Training (PPST).
  • You hold an advanced driving qualification and are TPAC trained.
  • You have a satisfactory or above rating on your most recent PDR.
  • All mandatory training is up to date.
  • You are medically and physically fit to perform operational duties.
  • Traffic Law Course (Modules 1 & 2)
  • Experience in proactive, intelligence-led policing.
  • Experienced Sergeants must be able to demonstrate success in leading a pro-active policing team.

Desirable Requirements

  • Awareness of covert tactics and surveillance
  • TPAC TAC qualification.

Recruitment Process & Conditions

 

  • Vetting to SC Level.
  •  Requirement to have passed the Traffic law course modules 1 and 2.
  • All applications will be subject to a paper sift aligned to the CVF framework, Job description and key transferable skills.
  •  The recruitment process will follow a set programme of application, paper sift, Assessment, competency-based interview, conditional offer, vetting (including biometrics), medical checks, reference checks and Job-related Fitness Test.
  • Please note that applicants’ disciplinary, complaints records & attendance records will be assessed as part of the vetting process.
  • We only accept transferring officers from a UK Home Office Force.
  • To apply you must be a fully qualified substantive Police Sergeant.
  • North Yorkshire Police currently does not offer a relocation allowance/package.
