Head of Performance & Data (OPCC)
Are you passionate about creating opportunities that transform communities? This is a unique chance to join the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) at a pivotal transitional phase. Come and join the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) as our Head of Performance and Data — a senior leadership role driving how we measure, analyse, and use data to improve policing and public safety outcomes across Hertfordshire.
Under the leadership of PCC Jonathan Ash-Edwards, we are driving forward key priorities to prevent crime and harm, tackle high-impact crimes, and relentlessly pursue prolific offenders.
As Head of Performance and Data, you will provide strategic leadership, vision, and direction for the OPCC’s approach to performance and data. You will deliver analytical products that inform the Commissioner’s priorities, enhance organisational understanding of police and criminal justice data, and provide assurance on Hertfordshire Constabulary’s performance. You will champion modernisation, efficiency, and ethical innovation in data monitoring and interpretation, enabling data-driven decision-making and improved outcomes for local communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enable and deliver advanced analytics and insights to support intelligence-led scrutiny and strategic planning.
- Lead and modernise the OPCC’s approach to measuring, monitoring, and scrutinising Constabulary performance, aligned to the Police and Crime Plan and national strategies.
- Drive digital innovation and transformation in performance and data, ensuring technology underpins efficient monitoring and builds public trust.
- Provide strategic advice to senior management on opportunities and risks in data and performance, including emerging AI technologies.
- Build strategic partnerships with local authorities, academia, and private sector innovators.
What we’re looking for:
- You’ll have a postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in police/criminal justice data strategies and leadership.
- Hold a degree in a relevant field (Maths/Stats, Criminology, Data Science, etc.).
- You’ll have strong analytical and statistical capability.
- If you’re ready to take on a role that will challenge and inspire you—and make a real difference on the ground—we want to hear from you.
What We Offer:
- Attractive remuneration package.
- Flexible working opportunities.
- The chance to play a vital role in shaping policy and improving lives across Hertfordshire.
