Job Title: NaCTSO VaPS (Venues and Public Spaces) Unit – Desk Officer - Band P - NCPP - Counter Terrorism Policing HQ
Salary: The starting salary is £45,131 which includes allowances totalling £2,928.
The salary is broken down as £42,203 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £47,668 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Job Summary
The post holder will work in a specialist team within National Counter Terrorism Security Office, supporting the development and delivery of protective security awareness products, tools and guidance, as well as training to support delivery. They will work with a variety of stakeholders within CT Policing, business and Government.
They will act as the point of contact working in close partnership with internal and external stakeholders in government departments and agencies, and the regional UK CT Policing network to develop engagement in delivering protective security capability and guidance. The post holder will be required to support training and projects in new areas of business across NaCTSO capabilities to ensure they can be successfully delivered.
Key Tasks
The post holder will be required to do the following:
- Support the research and development CT protective security awareness guidance and products.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of guidance and products and suggest ideas for improving them.
- Work closely with partners across the police network, government departments and industry, to support the development, design and delivery of CT protective security advice and guidance, and the creation of specific products.
- Work closely with NaCTSO colleagues to peer review NaCTSO guidance and ensure that it goes through the agreed approvals and governance processes.
- Keep up to date with current threat and intelligence, UK best practice and accepted CT Protective Security methodology and analysis.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of role specific legislation, national policy and frameworks, and tactical options to advise internal and external stakeholders.
- Maximise advice delivery through the NaCTSO public website.
- Represent NaCTSO on various relevant Police, Government and Industry working groups/committees.
- Represent NaCTSO at engagement events with both private business and public sector/ government audiences, to promote our advice, guidance and products.
- Produce high quality reports, presentations and guidance.
- Deliver effective and engaging briefings on behalf of the team or NaCTSO.
- Manage projects in new areas of business, identifying impacts on NaCTSO, negotiating departmental requirements and briefing NaCTSO Units on changes to ensure efficient and effective transition.
- Lead small projects or project workstreams, liaising with colleagues and other subject matter experts to meet project objectives.
- Support wider NACTSO repose to incidents, including supporting CT investigations and any subsequent inquiries.
- Undertake other tasks as directed by the line manager.
Vetting
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post; with a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.
This post requires British nationality (some dual nationals may be ineligible) and an Enhanced Security Check (eSC)/Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
As the post holder will have access to very sensitive information, there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries and we will undertake additional security checks as part of the recruitment process.
