About the Opportunity:

Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) is a collaboration of UK police forces working with the UK intelligence community to help protect the public and our National Security by preventing, deterring and investigating terrorist activity.

The FIMU is responsible for managing the receipt and assessment of all intelligence entering the CT network.

Once trained as a FIMU assessor, you will make decisions as to how the intelligence is managed and progressed through to a recognised outcome, working closely with other departments and agencies adhering to the National Standards of Intelligence Management (NSIM). 

Essential Experience:

  • Working knowledge and understanding of intelligence practices, including the National Intelligence Model (NIM).
  • Knowledge of Covert and Overt intelligence practices.
  • Can use own initiative and innovation while working as part of a team.
  • Ability to effectively case manage, work on own initiative and with limited supervision.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and be able to demonstrate high levels of honesty and integrity.
  • Ability to problem solve and take ownership for delivering outcomes.

Desirable Experience:

  • Knowledge of CTU structures and practices.
  • Knowledge of Covert Policing methods and techniques
  • Experience working on Major and complex investigations.
  • Knowledge of RIPA legislation
  • SC / DV Vetted

 

The role is subject to successful completion of security checks.

(Applications from officers with less than 12 months in their current rank will not be supported)

Successful applicants will be invited in for a competency-based interview.

Additional information

The role requires the post holder to have significant flexibility and a willingness to travel often outside the force area. The post holder

must maintain confidentiality and trust at all times regarding information gained in the post.

⚠ This role is subject to successful completion of Developed Vetting.

You must be a British citizen to work for the Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands (CTPWM). If you hold dual nationality, with the primary nationality British, you may also be considered. For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants will be required to hold or acquire the appropriate national security vetting clearances of Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002). CTP WM will support preferred candidates through the appropriate vetting process.

Am I eligible?

To apply as a Transferee as part of Alliance policing you must:

  • Be a serving Police Officer in a Home Office Force.
  • Have satisfactorily completed the period of probationary service in the rank of constable.
  • Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues.
