Job Purpose 

This role includes varied and rewarding duties such as: 

Responsibility for the care & the welfare of dogs kennelled at the DTC, including general dog related welfare and husbandry tasks.

Responsibility for running & maintaining the dog section stores, including the ordering of food, cleaning equipment, essential handler equipment and tools/equipment needed to maintain the DTC.  

Maintaining the DTC kennels will be upkept and training equipment at Sulhamstead to a pristine standard; you will have to ensure that all kennels, feeding and bedding are regularly cleaned, disinfected and replaced when necessary, and you will ensure that the DTC and its immediate training facilities are kept free of dirt, mess and weeds.  

Organising the sourcing and collection of new pups to the JOU from independent breeders and manage the Puppy Socialiser Scheme, recording puppy procurement and development. 

You will be working standard office hours, with the occasional need for weekend working for which you will receive compensation. 

This role may require you to visit various locations within Thames Valley, or Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, therefore you must hold a current manual drivers licence and be prepared to take and pass a Force driving course if required.

Essential Qualifications 

Full Driving Licence 

Educated to QCF Level 2 or to have undertaken work experience deemed to have brought the post-holder to a comparable level.

Essential Experience 

Experience of working in an Animal Welfare related role. 

Proven experience of having undertaken maintenance duties and associated Health and Safety checks.
