PSV Volunteer - Community and Diversity Officer
In this volunteer role, the successful candidate will provide support to the Community and Diversity team to engage with the community, especially seldom heard communities. The successful candidate can choose one of the following locations to work from: Aylesbury, High Wycombe or Amersham.
Activities which the successful candidate will be involved in is:
- Locating new community groups within the LCU
- Supporting engagement with seldom heard communities
- Attending events with/on behalf of police
- Support local NHPT
- Completing home and workplace visits
- Admin tasks relating to their activity within the community
The commitment for this role can be flexible however 16 hours per month is ideal to gain worthwhile relationships with the seldom heard communities.

As a volunteer within the police service, you will be subjected to a level of police vetting. The level will be dependent upon the role and it’s access requirements. With the higher levels of vetting, applicants could be asked to provide details of family members, partner, partner’s parents and co-residents, as well as additional information regarding their own personal circumstances. This process is required to ensure that Thames Valley Police comply with the legislation of the Vetting Code of Practice.
Whilst we endeavour to complete all vetting within 30 working days of receipt of vetting forms, unfortunately this is not always the case due to operational demand and back-logs, and could take considerably longer.
