Job Title: Business Manager
Salary: The starting salary is £38,926, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.
The salary is broken down as £35,998 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £38,523. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Job Purpose:
The Communications and Engagement division of the Metropolitan Police Service is a high-performing unit completely focused on reducing crime, raising standards and building trust, as well as supporting our operational colleagues.
To help us deliver these missions, we require an extremely organised and effective business manager to support the team across a number of workstreams related to finance, change management, HR and management of supplier contracts and tendering processes. This will include overall ownership of the relationship between the Communications and Engagement team and our Commercial business partners.
You will also take a lead role in the co-ordination and planning of procurement projects, management of supplier contracts, invoicing and financial reporting in order for the team to fulfill their responsibilities.
You will work closely with suppliers, other parts of the organisation (Finance, HR, Commercial etc) and members of your team to ensure smooth management of contracts, processes and good value for money from our campaigns and projects.
This is a challenging role working with communications senior leaders in an extremely high-profile organisation at a time of significant change, so flexibility and determination are a must.
Key responsibilities:
- Organise and supervise the team’s commercial arrangements with suppliers, ensuring reporting, invoicing are well planned and delivered to schedule
- Work closely with team leads across the unit to ensure best practice standards are adhered to in managing our multi-million campaign budgets
- Support the effective and efficient management of the team resources, including supporting on management of diaries, organisation of Boards and other large-scale meetings
- Day-to-day management of key contracts and relationships with suppliers
- Co-ordination of quarterly departmental budget reviews and reporting
- Work alongside another business manager in the unit (who is focused on HR and people), to ensure the overall smooth running of the unit.
- Ad hoc administrative support to comms senior leadership team for projects as required
