Salary: The starting salary is £59,839, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.
The salary is broken down as £56,911 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £69,342. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Met Business Services (MBS) is a new way for the Met to deliver enabling services to all of our officers and staff. MBS is a front-line focused services organisation that sets our people up to succeed, reduces admin, provides a single source of truth for all HR, Finance and Commercial data, providing a critical cornerstone to fix our foundations.
MBS will help every person and supplier working with the Met by:
- Building a modern and efficient industry-standard business services directorate, building and pooling key specialist capabilities, strengthening HR, Finance and Commercial functions whilst removing functional silos;
- Designing end-to-end services, building them the needs of the users rather than in functional process silos and seamlessly integrating them regardless of how they are delivered; and
- Providing easy-to-use interfaces and ‘one-touch’ services for end-users that leverage the potential of contemporary technologies like automation and low-code workflows.

Role Description
The Met Leadership have approved the design and implementation of a centralised service delivery model (Met Business Services – MBS), to replace functional services with business services, breaking down silos and building end-to-end services around user requirements. The initial scope of the MBS model will be MPS Commercial, Finance and HR scope of services functions with the flexibility and scalability of bringing additional new services into it.
A key enabler of the MBS led transformation is the implementation of a new Data and Solutions Capability within MBS. The MBS Data Quality Lead will be responsible for promoting and executing the holistic data quality solutions that ensure high quality and accurate data to drive data driven decision-making across MBS, by ensuring data adheres to a set of predetermined standards. They will lead the Data Quality initiatives and oversee data acquisition, integration and cleaning, all while updating initiatives based on changing business priorities.
The MBS Data Quality Lead will report into the MBS Head of Data and Reporting, and will lead the Senior Data Quality Analysts, working alongside the other MBS Data Pillars including Data Management, Reporting, and Data Governance to drive the delivery of these capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
What does the average day look like? Your core duties will include (but are not limited to):
MBS Data Quality
- Oversee the definition data profiling and business data quality checks
- Oversee root cause analysis investigations for data issues and update controls
- Oversee production of reports on progress on data quality testing and remediation
- Provide escalation routes for issue resolution
- Develop and continue to evolve a robust data quality strategy and lead on how data quality will be maintained across the MBS and MPS considering specific departmental needs and improvement opportunities
- Research and innovate to stay up-to-date with the latest trends in data quality. Continuously research and consider new methods and technologies for effective data quality management
- Create and define data standards related to data quality within MBS
- Enhance data quality controls, measuring system performance and creating reports that detail adherence to approved standards
- Establish and monitor data quality SLAs with key parties associated with data quality
- Communicate resolution and confirm actions taken have either resolved the issue, mitigated the risk, or provided an acceptable contingency
- Work with stakeholders across MBS and MPS and their third-party suppliers to establish Data Quality rules, metrics and measures; designs, monitors and incrementally improve cleansing logic; develop processes for tracking, monitoring and resolving issues
- Liaise with DDaT to update the data governance framework, policies, practices and other artefacts to adjust to the requirements of MBS
- Action improvements to Data Quality processes and develop recommendations
- Deliver timely, high quality insightful products, utilising available technology to create effective reports relevant to senior audiences
- Collaborate with the other data disciplines within the MPS to identify and solve complex data-related problems. Analyse data patterns, identify trends and insights, identify potential issues and make data-driven decisions.
