CTPNW - Intelligence Management Unit Supervisor - Grade I - Intelligence Unit

Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) is a five-force collaboration delivering Counter Terrorism (CT) services to our regional forces as well as forming part of the national CT Network. CTPNW’s mission is to work together to keep people safe from terrorism.

We are looking for a committed and outstanding individual who can support CTPNW in achieving its mission.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Intelligence Management Supervisor to join the CTPNW Fixed Intelligence Management Unit (FIMU), based at FHQ in Manchester.

The FIMU is the backbone of Counter Terrorism Policing and regular liaison with other CTP teams, GMP units and external partners is routine. The FIMU is comprised of four teams of officers and staff, each led by a Detective Sergeant or an Intelligence Supervisor.

As the ‘front door’ into CTPNW, the FIMU is responsible for the assessment of incoming intelligence to determine CT relevancy and assess the necessity for any further action or development. FIMU assessors also jointly covertly investigate cases of national security concern alongside partners in the UK intelligence community. As the supervisor of one of the four teams, your role will be varied, and you will manage a small team of constables and civilian assessors to lead investigations and oversee the development of intelligence in order to understand and mitigate the terrorism threat.

A common misconception is that CTP rarely recruit into roles such as this when the candidate hasn’t previously worked in a CT environment or has no experience of working in a covert role. This is not the case - candidates from a variety of backgrounds and with diverse professional experience are encouraged to apply. A full induction and training package will be provided to the successful candidate.

Effective communication, teamwork and a proactive attitude are vital attributes. The successful post-holder should also possess an investigative mindset, with an understanding of intelligence handling and the ability to effectively assess threat and risk.
