Vetting and Professional Standards Department Admin Support Officer

Location: Police Headquarters, Northallerton with the opportunity for agile working.

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Part time – 29.6 hours per week

Salary: Scale 2/3 £24,747 - £26,703 (FTE)

The Opportunity

Are you highly organised, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting a team that upholds the highest standards of integrity? We have an exciting opportunity for an Admin Support Officer to join our Professional Standards Department (PSD) at North Yorkshire Police (NYP).

The PSD and Vetting teams play a vital role in maintaining professional standards and ensuring thorough vetting of everyone who joins the service. In this role, you’ll provide essential administrative support within our Vetting team, helping us deliver a trusted and efficient service.

What You’ll Do

·         Carry out administrative tasks, including filing, managing pending systems, and handling mail.

·         Input, search, and retrieve information using computer applications.

·         Use data to prepare accurate reports.

·         Distribute and manage correspondence effectively.

·         Draft and prepare documentation and correspondence.

·         Initiate basic vetting, and upon request, PSD, and Anti-Corruption Unit enquiries.

·         Manage PSD and Vetting inboxes promptly and professionally.

·         Record all incoming work using departmental systems.

·         Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and excellent IT skills.

·         Ability to produce accurate work within deadlines.

·         Experience working in a secure and confidential environment.

·         Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
