Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) are currently looking for a Strategic Accountant to join the Business Support Services Management Team. You will provide a high quality, comprehensive financial service that meets customer requirements and enables us to achieve our strategic and operational objectives.
This is a fantastic time to be joining CTPNW as you will help shape how we deliver business in the North West in line with national Couter Terrorism Policing (CTP) strategy. You will play a key role in supporting our medium and long term financial planning process, helping to ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective strategic accounting service that continues to be valued highly by all its stakeholders.
We are looking for experienced, dedicated, committed and highly motivated Accountant to join the team . This is an exciting role for an experienced, finance professional to develop their leadership skills and support on a wide variety of finance and business related matters for CTPNW.
About the Role
You will:
• Lead staff within our small Finance Team, supporting a culture of inclusion, wellbeing and professional development
• manage all CT funding both Revenue and Capital into CTPNW ensuring all establishment records are aligned to budgets.
• work with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) across CTPNW to provide professional financial advice and ensure that their resources are managed efficiently and effectively delivering value for money.
• advise SLT in the production of forecasts and financial commentaries and to make recommendations on control action necessary to achieve a balanced budget.
• Build and maintain strong and effective working relationships with key national, regional with Regional Finance Colleagues and work collaboratively ensuring effective budget management, forecasting and financial reporting.
• interpret and analyse financial reports and identify variances and trends that require investigation, and ensure that any corrective action is identified and followed up.
• be responsible for providing timely, accurate and high quality financial information to CTPHQ Finance
• process the quarterly returns to CTPHQ for the reimbursement of CT grant funding back to regional NW forces.
• provide financial input to CT Local, Regional and National CT change programmes.
About You
You will:
• Be an ACMA Accountant or be a member of a Professional Institute and Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB), qualified with significant post qualification experience in a large complex organisation.
• Be able to maintain a strategic overview of all financial activity within your assigned area of business and have a proven ability to prioritise work effectively to meet a number of deadlines.
• Have experience of working in a devolved financial management environment
• Be team player with excellent communication and engagement skills with colleagues and customers at all levels,
• Have the ability to think strategically, work autonomously and be adaptable and manage conflicting priorities in order to meet organisational needs
• demonstrate that you have and maintain a knowledge of up to date accounting principles and financial governance and you must be experienced in the use of computerised financial systems and spreadsheets.

This role will be based in Manchester with the occasional requirement for Regional and National travel. This is a hybrid role and will be the ability to work from home and also the requirement to be in the office 3 days per week.
