Police Constable & Sergeant Transferee - Neighbourhood Policing, - Ref:1894073

Ready for a new challenge? Help us make Greater Manchester Police even greater.

Do you want a career that puts you at the heart of the community, where every day you make a real impact on people’s lives? At Greater Manchester Police (GMP), we’re looking for passionate, Police Constables and Sergeants to join our Neighbourhood Policing Teams.

As a Neighbourhood Police Officer, you won’t just respond to incidents – you’ll prevent harm before it happens, build lasting relationships, and tackle the issues that matter most to local people. This is policing with purpose, where your actions shape safer streets, stronger communities, and a better future for Greater Manchester.

As the second-largest force in the country, GMP offers opportunities that go beyond your current role, diverse career paths, or promotion prospects. If you’ve been waiting for the chance to take on a new exciting role, now is the time to apply.

We’re proud to be recognised as the fastest-improving force in the UK, and we’re committed to becoming the best for the people of Greater Manchester. Our mission is clear: prevent crime, protect victims, and keep communities safe. We work proactively with local partners and residents to solve problems that matter most to our neighbourhoods.

Serving nearly 3 million people across 10 towns and cities, GMP is one of the largest forces in the UK. We’re part of a vibrant, diverse region, and we’re committed to building a workforce that reflects the communities we serve. Diversity strengthens our ability to engage and protect, so we welcome applications from all backgrounds.

What We Offer

• Relocation support of up to £8,000 to help you make Greater Manchester your home.
• Starting salary aligned with National Police Officer Scales (dependent on current force and salary).
• GMP’s Sports and Social Club
• Eligibility for Blue Light Card
• Access to a Credit Union
• Supportive Wellbeing Provision
• Competitive Car lease scheme

Why join GMP as a Neighbourhood Officer?

• Be the face of GMP in your community – engaging with residents, businesses, and partners to build trust and confidence.
• Solve problems, not just crimes – using evidence-based approaches and partnership working to reduce anti-social behaviour, vulnerability, and repeat harm.
• Own your beat – manage local priorities through structured plans, proactive patrols, and targeted interventions.
• Protect the vulnerable – from personal ASB victims to repeat crime hotspots, you’ll take ownership of investigations and deliver bespoke risk assessments and solutions to reduce harm.
• Disrupt offenders and organised crime – working with district teams to manage high-harm offenders and dismantle criminal networks through proactive policing.
• Lead community engagement – from face-to-face meetings to digital platforms, ensuring two-way dialogue and transparency.
• Drive innovation and excellence – push boundaries, implement bold ideas, and set new standards through decisive action and best-in-class policing.

We’re recruiting directly into Neighbourhood Policing Teams, District Prevention Hubs (specialising in problem solving) and Neighbourhood Crime Teams (specialising in investigating acquisitive crime).
