Police Alcohol Licensing Officer (PALO) Supervisor
This new role is an exciting opportunity to join the Alcohol Licensing Team who are an experienced and dedicated team of Licensing Officers. This role is to work alongside the Alcohol Licensing Sergeant for the force in leading the team and being responsible for the day to day activities in relation to alcohol licensing matters that arise. The position can be flexible in terms of where the successful candidate would be based as the team is spread out across the force area.
Principal responsibilities:
The principal responsibility of the PALO (Police Alcohol Licensing Officer) Supervisor is to work with the Licensing Sergeant, to lead a team of NPCC designated specialist PALOs and administration support officers, working in partnership with responsible authorities and other partners to support the promotion of the licensing objectives to reduce the impact associated with alcohol licensable activities. With particular emphasis on the following:
- To lead and supervise a team of specialist licensing officers and ensure mandatory CPD and qualifications are maintained in line with NPCC direction.
- To effectively manage and engage in the statutory consultation processes within the legislative framework, focusing on all matters relating to alcohol licensing within a defined geographical area.
- Provide specialist advice and guidance, negotiate and influence colleagues and add additional support to PALOs.
- Develop effective problem-solving strategies to address alcohol related incidents focusing on high risk and repeat locations and individuals affecting local communities.
- Ensure a consistent approach toward guidance, enforcement and partnership working identifying, developing and sharing best practice.
