ERSOU - ROCU - PC/DC - High Harm Officer - PIU (MARSOC Investigator)
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for Police Officers to be seconded to the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit; Prison Intelligence Unit (ERSOU PIU). This role is part of a specialist, agile team working across the Eastern Region to identify, disrupt, and manage serious and organised crime (SOC) nominals within the custodial estate and the wider community.Officers will work closely with HMPPS Serious and Organised Crime Units (SOCU), regional forces, and other law enforcement agencies to deliver high-impact intelligence and tactical interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
The post holder will be expected to work closely with multi-agency partners to develop and act on sensitive intelligence relating to SOC offenders, support proactive covert operations and identify opportunities for law enforcement disruptions and interventions within custodial estates and the community.
You will be responsible for managing your own cohort of nominals, undertaking intelligence development tactics, as well as advising local forces, HMPPS and others, ensuring plans meet operational and intelligence standards.
Managing partner agency relationships is imperative to the success of this role, and you will be required to maintain and progress new and existing relationships, prioritising a co-ordinated and effective response to offender management.
The post will also support a lifetime offender management approach, mitigating threat, risk, and harm from custody, focusing on the highest harm offenders and priority areas such a drone ingress threat. The Prison Intelligence Unit (PIU) is seeking to identify an officer with a particular interest in drone technology.
This role will support the PIU in addressing and mitigating the risks associated with drone activity within the prison estate. The initiative aligns with the recent CCA tasking issued by the Director General of the National Crime Agency, under Section 5(5)(a) of the Crime and Courts Act 2013. This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of disrupting serious and organised crime, protecting communities, and shaping new approaches to offender management across the Eastern Region.
