S4-Forensic Identification Technician
Forensic Identification Technician – located within the Forensic Identification Bureau at HQ, Winsford.
The Forensic Identification Bureau provides a service to investigating officers by providing facial recognition, fingerprint, footwear and examinations and comparisons. The examinations and comparisons can be used to lead investigations through intelligence products or provide evidence in the form of a Streamlined Forensic Reports (SFR). The structure within this team provides progression opportunities to Identification Officer and Identification Subject Matter Expert for the right candidate, if desired.
This focus of the role for this recruitment is primarily to use facial recognition technology to identify suspects of crime. This will involve using Force systems to obtain the best stills from CCTV footage, enhancement tools such as Photoshop and facial comparison training to produce the best quality intelligence products possible.
The successful candidate will also be required to become trained in fingerprints and footwear examinations to support existing members of staff and the team.
Fingerprint related work will include management of the National Database (Ident1) in relation to new custody impressions, elimination databases as well as retention and weeding requirements.
Footwear related work will be to examined custody scans and crime scene marks to identify suspects of crime and emerging crime series.
