AUDIO TRANSCRIBER

Contracted hours: 1 x Full Time: 37 hours per week, 1 x Part Time: 30 hours per week
An opening has emerged for 2 x Audio Transcriber to join the Audio Transcription Unit based at Wakefield HQ. In this role you will provide a copy typing, full transcript and Interview summarising service to the Force; producing text from hand-written evidential documents, other documentation and transcribing digital formats. The transcription of suspect interviews would involve the production of an exhibited document consisting of both verbatim and summary form pertinent to a specific case file all of which need to meet the required standards of accuracy within agreed timescales.
It should be noted that that due to the nature of some investigations this role will involve the transcribing of highly sensitive and at times descriptive interviews including that which some may find distressing and very often involves content of a sexual and violent nature. Some interviews may involve multiple speakers and/or cover a multitude of nationalities and dialects.
To apply you must have a good standard of literacy, excellent listening skills with a keen ear for detail and be comfortable with various accents and dialects. You will also have the ability to use a range of computerised systems and packages including Microsoft Office.
To be considered for this challenging opportunity, you must be able to undertake and pass relevant training on West Yorkshire Police computerised systems and the in-house Audio Transcription Summarising course.
An audio transcribing test will be conducted during interview to assess capability to complete the Audio Transcription Summarising course.
