Help us to provide assurance on the governance of the Police and Crime Commissioner and Chief Constable

As Joint Audit, Risk and Assurance Panel Member you will contribute to each Panel meeting to support all matters effectively and appropriately and address the Panel on matters where an opinion or decision is required, showing respect to other members of the Panel wishing to express a different opinion.

5-10 days per annum, including meetings, reading papers and training for up to 4 years

£3522 per annum, plus travel expenses

What you’ll be doing

  • Contributing to the effective discharge of the JARAP Terms of Reference
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with other Panel members, the Police and Crime Commissioner, the Chief Constable, Section 151 officers and auditors
  • Contributing to a culture where commitment to best governance practice is key

What we need from you

  • A member of the public who has knowledge or interest in local community issues and previous experience in a local or community leadership role, but who has no political role – such as experience as a school governor or social enterprise member or hold a position as a non-exec director (NED)
  • Passionate about wanting to make an impact for local residents and will use your enquiring and inquisitive nature to ask questions to gain a clear insight
  • Excellent communication skills, be confident in speaking up
  • Able to actively participate in meetings and an ability to examine evidence and complex documentation
  • Able to take an independent, unbiased view and maintain the highest level of integrity, accountability, and honesty in the actions you take
  • Be over the age of 18, live or work in the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland area and be able to attend meetings at Leicestershire Police Headquarters during the working day
