Lawyer – Employment
Agile working, from home and police offices but based at either Middlesbrough or Peterlee Police Station, or at North Yorkshire Police HQ, Northallerton. With some travel to locations throughout Cleveland, Durham and North Yorkshire.Applications are invited for the position of Lawyer (Employment) within Evolve Legal Services.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a rewarding role within Evolve Legal Services, an in-house collaborative legal service providing professional services to the Chief Constables and Commissioner for North Yorkshire, Cleveland and Durham. You will therefore be advising the Chief Constables, and Police (Fire), and Crime Commissioners and their officers and staff across North Yorkshire Police, Cleveland Police and Durham Constabulary.
This permanent role will cover Employment Law. This includes providing internal advice on a range of employment areas as well as having conduct of litigation in the Employment Tribunal and may include advising on police conduct matters.

Candidates able to demonstrate prior experience of employment law, conduct law or other aspects of civil law affecting the police, are particularly encouraged to apply. You may also be required to assist in other casework across the wide range of police legal activity with which the team deal.
You will be a team player as well an effective decision maker and communicator, equally confident in guiding the work of others in the team as you are at advising colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
