Vetting Manager

As Force Vetting Manager you will lead and take responsibility for delivering all elements of the Force’ vetting functions; ensuring vetting functions are delivered in line with the College of Policing Code of Vetting Practice, associated guidance, and with local force vetting policy; ensuring a consistent and transparent application of all relevant statutory and policy requirements including the development of strong working relationships with partner agencies.

What You’ll Do

To make evidence-based threat, risk and harm management decisions on vetting applications, on the delegated authority of the Chief Constable. This is to include review and, where appropriate, withdrawal of clearance

To have an ongoing responsibility to undertake continual intelligence reviews.

Create and manage a vetting regime which is proportionate and effective in addressing the risks associated with designated post-holders and non-police personnel.

Lead, motivate, develop, and engage team members, protecting and promoting workforce wellbeing to uphold professional standards and enable a high performing team.

Analyse performance data and information against team objectives to report against performance management measures and inform workforce planning. Ensure that Durham Constabulary complies with all national policy including the National Vetting Code of Practice, Authorised Professional Practice and the Vetting Regulations.

Analyse and monitor the impact of vetting on the recruitment and retention of individuals who have protected characteristics as defined by legislation. Develop and lead strong partnerships with force colleagues in Counter-Corruption and Professional Standards departments to share relevant information.
