The Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have vacancies for exceptional and experienced Digital Forensic Investigators within their Digital Forensic Investigation Unit (DFIU).
This exciting and varied role will put you at the forefront of one of the largest and most advanced digital forensic teams in UK policing, striving to become a centre of excellence in this field. Over the years, the unit has undergone significant expansion, which is a genuine acknowledgement of the crucial and valuable contribution that digital forensics brings to modern-day police investigations.
The DFIU is looking for driven and motivated candidates with experience in digital forensics, specifically in processing and analysing data acquired from a wide range of digital devices. Your knowledge in this arena and understanding of criminal investigations will be utilised to support complex, high-profile, and challenging police investigations.
In this role, you will conduct intelligence-led digital forensic investigations on a wide range of digital devices and sources, providing evidence and expert interpretation of the relevant data in a format acceptable to the court. As a member of a dynamic team, you will work closely with others in the unit who have different experiences and specialisms, and lead on cutting-edge research and development.
You will use your technical knowledge and communication skills to present evidence to police investigators, prosecutors, and the courts, explaining complex digital evidence in a manner that can be understood by a wide range of audiences.
It’s an extremely challenging role, with over-the-shoulder support. You will work closely with specialist digital forensic practitioners and officers, who have a mutual commitment to law enforcement, to analyse sensitive and distressing material, including child sexual abuse material and other serious crimes.
