Our Support Service functions work in collaboration across North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, providing vital shared expertise to deliver efficient and effective service to our communities.
The Opportunity:
- We are looking for a dedicated, professional and committed individuals to join the DBS team in the role of DBS Analyst.
- As a DBS Analyst you will be required to conduct research on police computer systems, analyse information and make balanced decisions based on this information.
- You will be a member of a large team responsible for delivering high quality, credible and timely enhanced disclosure service in line with the Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) Quality Assurance Framework (QAF).
Key responsibilities:
- Undertake research across local and national systems, analysing and assessing the information in line with the Quality Assurance Framework to make timely decisions as to whether information held is relevant to disclose to the central DBS or respond to barring requests for information.
- Prepare disclosure text for positive cases meeting the relevant criteria, for quality assurance by a DBS Team Leader
- Prepare and endorse a national standardised audit trail document for ‘no-disclosure’ cases, providing full rationale using a fair and balanced risk-based decision process.
- Communicate to members of the public, with regards to providing additional information to support their application.
- Deliver and promote the service in accordance with agreed standards as well as identifying and developing ongoing procedure and service improvements.
- Develop and maintain good knowledge of key procedures and processes and support the development and implementation of key tools and learning.
- Respond to customer queries and provide advice, guidance or signposting.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and key internal stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For:
- Be able to analyse, evaluate and interpret large volumes and sometimes sensitive data from several sources.
- Be comfortable in making risk-based decisions based on the information reviewed within specified parameters.
- Have good IT skills and be skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Have a high standard of attention to detail.
- Enjoy working as a team.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
