Hours: 37 hours per week – Monday – Thursday 8am – 4pm and Friday 8am – 3.30pm
Salary: £24,222 - £28,653 (NYP Scale 3 / 4)

About the Role
We’re looking for a dedicated Research & Report Officer to join our Domestic Abuse Team, providing vital support in safeguarding adults and children across York and North Yorkshire. This role is central to our multi-agency efforts to protect individuals from domestic abuse.
You’ll be responsible for dealing with requests for the domestic violence disclosure scheme from members of the public and from internal colleagues this will involve conducting in depth research across Police systems to enable you to compile detailed reports for the Scheme. Providing resilience and support to the wider DA team where demand dictates.
About the Team
The Domestic Abuse Team acts as a single point of contact for safeguarding concerns related to domestic abuse. Our work is critical in the multi-agency response to protect vulnerable individuals. We operate under clear safeguarding principles:
- Identify concerns through referrals and database interrogation
- Understand risks via multi-agency information sharing and assessment
- Share relevant information to ensure appropriate safeguarding action
Key Responsibilities
- Research current and historical police databases and hard copy files to assess risk and relevance of information
- Compile and present accurate reports for external agencies, MARAC meetings, and DVDS requests
- Handle highly confidential and sensitive information in line with legal and local protocols
- Share information with partner agencies in accordance with MOPI, Data Protection, and local agreements
- Liaise with external agencies via phone and email regarding information and meeting requests
- Create and manage incidents and flags on police systems (Niche) to ensure accessibility and accuracy
- Scan and upload reports and external documents to Niche
- Provide a full range of administrative and clerical support to the Domestic Abuse Team
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective time management and organisational skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience in researching, collating, and disseminating information from various sources
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately
Desirable:
- Experience working in a confidential or sensitive environment
- Understanding of the Management of Police Information (MOPI)
- Previous experience in a similar role (training will be provided)
