OPCC Head of Policy and Missions
The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Bedfordshire has an exciting opportunity to join the senior management team of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) as our Head of Policy, Missions and Commissioning.One of the core responsibilities of the role is to drive the development and delivery of the Police and Crime Plan and the Commissioners commitment to his mission-based approach.
This is a pivotal leadership role with the opportunity to shape the future of policing and community safety across Bedfordshire. You will be at the heart of strategic decision making, driving reform that directly impacts lives.
As the Head of Policy and Commissioning you will provide leadership, guidance and oversight of the commissioning function and the restorative justice team, including managing staff performance, staff development and staff welfare.
The Head of Policy and Commissioning will also oversee the work of the Policy team, undertake research and gather objective evidence to support the policy making process to influence policy decisions and ensure that the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) and Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner (DPCC) are ahead of policy change.
This role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders, government bodies, and national networks—ideal for those looking to elevate their career in public policy and commissioning.
The PCC’s aim is to create a safer and fairer Bedfordshire. They are elected by the public to hold Chief Constables to account, in delivering an effective and efficient police service.
PCC’s ensure community needs are met as effectively as possible and are improving local relationships through building confidence and restoring trust. They work in partnership across a range of agencies at local and national level to ensure there is a unified approach to preventing and reducing crime.
