Hertfordshire Constabulary Chief Inspectors Promotion Process (External)

Promotion to Chief Inspector - Hertfordshire

Hertfordshire Constabulary are seeking applications from substantive Inspectors looking to transfer to Hertfordshire on promotion to Chief Inspector and substantive Chief Inspectors looking to transfer laterally. All applicants will be selected on an equal basis that determines their suitability and readiness for promotion.

To be successful you need to demonstrate your ability in:

  • preventing harm and crime
  • catching criminals and solving crime
  • protecting victims and the vulnerable
  • have effective and visible leadership in line with Herts values

To apply for promotion or lateral transfer, you will need to complete an application form that captures your evidence in the four areas listed above. Moderation and a board process will follow, for further information about the selection process please see the attached candidate guidance.

Completed application forms need to be emailed directly to promotions@bch.police.uk by midday on Friday 31st October 2025.
