Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) is a five-force collaboration delivering Counter Terrorism (CT) services to our regional forces as well as forming part of the national CT Network. CTPNWs mission is to work together to keep people safe from terrorism.
We are looking for a committed and outstanding individual who can support CTPNW in achieving its mission.
Expression of Interest for DC / PC Technical Planner Full time role
Please provide a short EOI (no more than 500 words) detailing why you would like to be considered for the role and any relevant experience that you believe would make you suitable for the role.
Candidates will be selected based on experience demonstrated within your EOI.
This will be a full-time role working within Greater Manchester.
Role:
To plan, prepare and deliver the safe deployment of Covert Technical Operations utilising a range of resources from across a wide range of internal and external partners.
Candidates should be able to:
Work in partnership with other departments from a broad spectrum of Law Enforcement and National Security in order to achieve an objective.
Take the lead when given a specific task, quickly identifying stakeholders and involving them in the decision-making processes.
Work to often strict timelines based on Threat and Demand.
Work without the protection of a warrant card in hostile environments.
Prepare and deliver detailed briefings to internal and external stakeholders.
Be willing to travel and work across the National CT Network if the demand arises.
Have a broad knowledge of covert Policing methods and experience in the deployment and usage of these techniques.
Demonstrate an awareness of various levels of Covert Authorities and their limitations
Surveillance Q1 Trained and able to deploy with the surveillance team when required in addition to providing advice during the planning process regarding surveillance tactics.
In addition any candidate must:
Complete DV Vetting clearance
Complete the A1 Tech Planners Pre-Select
Successfully pass the A1 Technical Planners course hosted externally (pass / fail)
Attend regular CPD specific to your role
- UK Nationality
You must be a UK National to work for CTPNW. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be considered. For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants will be required to hold or acquire the appropriate national security vetting clearance. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and therefore will not be able to perform their duties.

- Vetting Requirements
This is a designated post under the Force Vetting Strategy and the post will therefore applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) level before taking up the post.
For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

Please note for applications which carry enhanced vetting you should have resided in the UK for the last 10 years.
For specialist police posts, eligible candidates will:
have completed their probation at the closing date;
be confirmed in the rank of the vacancy;
not previously been unsuccessful at an assessment or interview for the same post within the last six months;
have no outstanding disciplines (not including complaints).
have completed the minimum tenure in your current post (if specialist post)
