This is an outstanding career opportunity to make a real impact within North Wales Police, where you’ll assist individuals who wish to exercise their data protection rights.  You’ll be working alongside an experienced team who will fully support you.

This is an opportunity to develop or expand knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018, which will be beneficial for career development within NWP.

We have one temporary (until March 2026) role available. The temporary role is expected to commence as soon as possible.

What does the Data Protection Support Officer role entail?

Duties of the role, include but are not limited to;

  • To facilitate and validate all information rights requests received. Perform associated tasks to ensure compliance.
  •  Using a practical knowledge of data protection legislation and current issues, act as the primary point of contact for external data protection queries in relation to information rights, researching issues and providing advice where appropriate
  • Using a practical knowledge of data protection legislation and current issues, act as the primary point of contact for internal data protection queries received by the department from members of the public, researching issues and providing advice where appropriate.
  • Provide assistance to the Data Protection Assistant, researching Data Protection Act 2018 compliance issues and providing well reasoned solutions.
  • To provide an administration, research and supporting function to Information Assurance to ensure that all Information Assurance compliance procedures are complied with and to facilitate the work within the section.
  • As required, attend internal/external meetings.

What will I need to be considered for the Data Protection Support Officer role?

  •  HND/C or equivalent qualification in a relevant business related subject, or an equivalent amount of proven relevant experience.
  • Excellent IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, especially Excel.
  • Proven communication skills with an ability to work well in a team environment and to ascertain/collect information & convey it into a comprehensive, easily understood format, commensurate with the requirements of the role.
  • Highly motivated with a high degree of proven organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines whilst ensuring accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
  • The post holder may occasionally be required to travel throughout the Force area and it may be necessary to travel outside the Force area on occasions.
  • A practical knowledge of the Data Protection legislation, practical concepts and related legislation and its implementation.
  • Proven excellent research skills.
  • A developed practical knowledge of the current and legacy information systems used by the Force.
