Job Title: CREST Stock Control
Salary: The starting salary is £34,808, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.
The salary is broken down as £31,880 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £34,108. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

The MBOSS CREST (Criminal Exhibits Support Team) provides exhibits support to officers and staff across the MET in particular handling, retention and disposal decisions, process and policy across the full range of Criminal Exhibits. The team work closely with local and central criminal exhibits stores (CCES) and provide training and ensure compliance across areas such as CONNECT and in specific areas such as Frozen Exhibits, Firearms and Ammunition and Cash Banking. They also work closely with the Criminal Exhibits Transformation Program (CETP).
There are four distinct activity areas within CREST – Administration, Digital, Review/Retention/Disposal (RRD), Compliance & Training.
This role will be for 4 x Band E’s to work within the Digital team.
Purpose:
The post holders will work within the MBOSS CREST Digital team. The role holders will be responsible for various aspects of Criminal Exhibits held centrally, ensuring compliance within all policy and process, drive forward projects to implement change to LCES and CCES requirements across the MPS. The post holders will work alongside CREST RRD and Audit and Assurance teams and be expected to support the full CREST team activities during absence.
The Stock Control Strand is a new post. The aim & purpose is to ensure compliance to the agreed standards (as highlighted within the Casey report) & instigate a Central Warehouse stock control regime that protects the MPS from additional risk, reduces the instances of lost exhibits and protects victim outcomes. To review, drive forward and support correct stock control within CCES and maintain and develop standards for Local Criminal Exhibit Stores and act as support for Front Line Policing within Connect and Exhibit Management.
To actively support CCES to control Stock Management and to increase compliance of correct disposal routes in a timely manner. To work with both CREST Compliance & Training & RRD teams to providing stock control support to other departments.
To support the engagement on Best Practice regarding stock control to ensure a consistent approach across all sites including accurate stock control and disposal routes in line with MPS Policy in particular higher risk stock such as firearms, frozen and legacy exhibits
To assist Front Line Policing and other business groups to support Criminal Exhibit processes and changes within Connect. To monitor compliance to standards with the objective of reducing unnecessary retention of exhibits, increasing stock integrity and reducing overall exhibit volume and retention costs.
Key Responsibilities:
The post holders will work alongside operational and non-operational colleagues in support of operational delivery to ensure CREST maximises the effectiveness of services it delivers whilst meeting the needs of the business and ensuring officers and staff are compliant with policy.
This will include:
- Training provision of standardised stock counting processes and procedures throughout the 32+8 Local Criminal Exhibit Stores (LCES) and Central Criminal Exhibit Stores (CCES).
- Travel across FLP, LCES and CCES sites to deliver all training and stock control provision.
- Support development of stock management protocols whilst ensuring correct governance procedures are adhered to through monitoring compliance.
- Manage the Criminal Exhibits & support FLP stock control processes.
- Engage with CREST teams on central and local requirements & areas for improvement from CE team engagement cross functionally, FLP, LCES & CCES.
- Implement stock control measures and evaluate effectiveness within LCES & CCES & FLP for Connect & CE processes.
- Work with CETP to support new / change of process, and subsequent impact.
- Support maintenance of best practice resources such as MBOSS Criminal Exhibits Hub.
- Support CE cross-functional induction to assist with on boarding of new staff.
- Ensure compliance of operational targets and objectives are met against departmental KPIs.
- Building relationships with all business areas, service delivery leads and external partners, working at any location across MPS estate.
Additional Information:
The role will require travel across FLP, LCES and CCES sites in London
