As part of the team working in the Corporate Services Division, you can make a real difference by supporting the provision of specialist statistical analysis to our officers and staff across the second largest police force in the UK.

Key responsibilities of the role include -

1.To apply statistical skills and undertake research to produce high quality management information and reports.
2.To advise senior management on all statistical issues, compile reports and deliver presentations and briefings where appropriate in relation to emerging trends to inform strategic decisions at a Force level.
3.To analyse crime and incident trends taking account of seasonality to inform Police Scotland KPI/target levels under the direction of the Senior Statistician.
4.To design, deliver, manage, monitor and evaluate tasks of a statistical nature in relation to geographical, demographic and behavioural analyses using a variety of primary and secondary data sources.
5.To provide bespoke information and reports to internal and external customers.
6.To develop data analysis methods making best use of new technology and to ensure value for money.
7.Under the direction of the Senior Statistician compile complex comprehensive reports using multiple software packages and present interpreted information and analysis when required.
8.To adhere to legislation on the release of information, particularly sensitive information.
9.To provide advice and guidance to the Force in all aspects of statistical analyses of data.
10.Adhere to Data Protection, Freedom of Information and similar legislation where relevant to the business of the department.
11.Deputise for the Senior Statistician at meetings when required.
12.To undertake any duties consistent with the grade as directed by management.
13.Will be responsible for assessing and self-managing risk within all aspects of the role.
