Salary: The starting salary is £47,060, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.
The salary is broken down as £44,132 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £52,652 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Job Summary
The role of the Covert Human Intelligence Source (CHIS) Training Lead is to support the National HUMINT Unit’s (NHU) improvement delivery plan to support Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP).
The NHU leads on implementing the CTP HUMINT Strategy. The NHU coordinates the CT network’s HUMINT strategic efforts to keep people safe from terrorism. The unit coordinates, advises and supports the delivery of operational responses.
The role of the CHIS training lead sits within the NHU and will be primarily London based. As this is a national role, consideration will be given to a more agile approach to working location that could allow the successful candidate working from an area outside the Metropolitan Police Service but with regular travel to London as required.
Key Tasks
The post holder will be required to work across the CTPHQ National HUMINT portfolio and specifically to undertake responsibility for developing, managing, coordinating, and providing training and CPD to the CTP CHIS capability.
The role will include the following;
- Lead a national CHIS Training team ensuring that they are managed effectively and respond positively to CTP training requirements.
- Coordinate and develop relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
- Represent relevant national training subgroups on development activity in line with actions from these groups.
- Identify international training opportunities.
- Consult with other international stakeholders regarding training.
- Coordinate training activity across the CTP CHIS community.
- Identify priority training requirements for HUMINT practitioners.
- Oversee training budget linking in with HQ and Regional Finance Managers.
- Proactively identify best practice and organisational learning in relation to CHIS tactic.
- Advise and represent the CTP CHIS training portfolio at national meetings.
- Liaise with stakeholders in regard to learning from inspections and reviews and devise training / CPD as necessary.
Vetting
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post.
This post requires British nationality (some dual nationals may be ineligible) and an Enhanced Security Check (eSC)/Developed Vetting (DV)] clearance.
As the post holder will have access to very sensitive information, there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries and we will undertake additional security checks as part of the recruitment process.
