Employee Relations Consultant – Policy & Process Improvement
One full time and one part time 18.5 hours permanent positions
Wakefield

This vacancy has arisen as part of ongoing organisational change within the People Directorate, reflecting our commitment to evolving service delivery and strengthening our workforce to meet future demands. The role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to a refreshed structure that supports our strategic priorities.

West Yorkshire Police is seeking two strategic and solutions-focused Employee Relations Consultants to lead the development and delivery of policy and process improvement across the Force. These roles are central to delivering high-quality HR advice and process improvements in Employee Relations.

As Employee Relations Consultant, you will:

Provide corporate and specialist HR support and advice to officers and staff across the organisation.

Lead and contribute to the design, review, and development of employee relations policies and procedures.

Maintain an up to date and detailed understanding of key workstreams/high priority areas of focus for the Force, developing innovative processes and procedures that support continuous improvement in these areas.

Interpret and present management information through effective reporting and analysis.

Collaborate with internal departments and external partners, including Trade Unions and Staff Associations, to support policy development and implementation.

Contribute to key people projects that support the Force’s strategic people agenda.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

CIPD qualified to Level 5 or working towards, or equivalent demonstrable experience.

Proven experience working within a HR function, with strong knowledge of employment legislation and its practical application.

Experience in report writing and the ability to interpret and present management information.

Experience in policy design and development or similar work.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience providing people-related advice and guidance to managers and stakeholders.

Experience working with Trade Unions and Staff Associations. (Desirable)
