Disclosure Clerk (Collisions Unit)

The principal responsibility of the Disclosure Clerk (Collisions Unit) is to support the Force commitment to the controlled sharing of personal information contained within records where such disclosure will assist victims in progressing civil claims in relation to Collisions whilst meeting legislative requirements, ACPO guidance on the Management of Police Information (MOPI) and agreed information sharing protocols.

In particular to:

  • Access Force systems and obtain information, either electronic or hard copy, to enable the decision-making process on whether information should be disclosed.
  • Understand and apply legal constraints and permissions to subjective decisions made on a case by case analysis of the information to determine whether the force will supply the requested information.
  • Compile correspondence which conveys the decision made and, where applicable, ensures the partners can understand why information has not been provided.
  • Meet agreed time-scale as laid down in Service Level Agreements or their equivalents.
  • Maintain a comprehensive, detailed and auditable record of all applications, decision making and finalisation, including disclosures made and where appropriate, the reasons for non-disclosure

This list of duties is not restrictive or exhaustive and the post-holder may be required to carry out duties from time to time that are either commensurate with/or lower than the grade of the post.  In some posts this might include the ad-hoc provision of guidance and informal training of new colleagues.
