This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilst remaining two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.

Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.

Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowances and hours.

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

The Estates Project team form part of the wider Estates and Facilities department, responsible for managing the built environment within the police owned estate, ensuring that the buildings remain compliant, safe and support the effective delivery of policing in Sussex. The Estates Project team are responsible for a number of different project delivery across Surrey and Sussex.

We are pleased to advise there is an exciting 2 x Estates Project Delivery Manager roles in the the Estates Project Delivery team base at Police Headquarters Mount Browne or Lewes.

The Estates Project Delivery Manager is a key role within the department responsible for delivering a professional, efficient and effective multi-disciplined projects supporting our core business of operational policing. Largely responsible for the delivery of a range of different projects. This is an important customer facing role and provides a variety of day-to-day activities within project delivery.

You will form part of a wider Estates Projects and Maintenance team responsible for a diverse range of sites; from single offices in a shared building to ‘multi-building’ sites across geographical areas supporting a variety of departments often with individual needs and unique requirements.

Resilient and self-motivated with excellent planning and organising skills, you will be required to effectively balance your scheduled workload whilst having an ability to adapt to changing priorities when required. We take pride in our working environment and a sense of ownership and personal responsibility are vital in ensuring our projects are delivered safe, compliant and within budget

Communication is key, building working relationships with Estates & Facilities colleagues, contractors and with stakeholders at all sites.

Skills & Experience

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

  • Educated to ‘HND’ Level 5 or equivalent standard or experience

Desirable:

  • Project management qualification such as APM,RICS, or Prince 2 Management qualification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Ability to listen, support, mentor and manage staff in a fair, open and constructive manner
  • Skills and proven experience of persuading and influencing others and negotiating successful outcomes, especially when dealing with competing and conflicting demands and variable responses from stakeholders
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, openly and professionally and with discretion, work with & present effectively at all levels of the organisation and produce clear and concise reports
  • Proven experience of project processes e.g. risk management, issues resolution and programming timetables
  • Experience of monitoring and reporting against a portfolio of projects and associated budgets
  • Fully IT literate, with a good level of competency
  • Experience of managing external consultants, design teams and internal clients

Desirable:

  • Experience and knowledge of operational policing
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Skills in using project management software g. MS project
  • Working knowledge of British and International standards in Construction, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
  • Knowledge of Public Sector Contractor Frameworks
