The Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit are looking to recruit a Regional Operational Security Advisor (OpSy). As such you will be part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT.)

The purpose of the OpSy is an independent advisor with the strategic objective to address and reduce Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) operational security threats, risk and vulnerabilities.

The OpSy advises on the security, integrity and ethical conduct of all law enforcement assets, capabilities and techniques, particularly in relation to covert activity. The OpSy will seek to implement and maintain consistency in standards of security and practice in accordance with legislation, national policy, local policy and guidelines

Your responsibilities will include:

Delivering effective operational security support including Operational Security advice to multiple stakeholders from strategic to tactical to mitigate risk.

To carryout operational security reviews by overseeing and or conducting relevant activities to ensure OpSy functions are discharged for accreditation and inspection.

Advise on Security Incidents, Legislative breaches and Compromise. The OpSy is a critical stakeholder in this process to ensure robust security incident management on behalf the Head of Unit.

The OpSy will also provide advice and guidance on relevant policy, Freedom of Information requests, Vetting processes, Projects and Counter Corruption threats.

You will deliver Operational Security Liaison Officer (OSLO) Training and Coordination for the Region including relevant CPD for OSLO’s. Where relevant coordinate OSLO activities within your sphere of influence, ensuring relevant communications are cascaded to OSLOs. Maintain register of current OSLOs for your given area.

You must be willing to work in a high-pressure environment and to meet tight deadlines. You should also be willing to work flexible hours to support the functions of the role, be willing and able to travel for business purposes both within the YH region and nationally.
