Job Title: Risk and Assurance Support

Salary: The starting salary is £38,926, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £35,998 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £38,523 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: London and Hybrid (60% of your time you will work from a Met location, of which at least one day a week will be at your base location in New Scotland Yard)

 

This role will be required to work across the Strategic Planning and Risk team supporting the Head of Strategic Planning and Risk, Risk Leads and managers to deliver an expert planning, risk and assurance service at both corporate and business group levels.  Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the Risk leads to ensure an effective understanding of key MPS and business group level risks and organisational learning opportunities. Facilitating the work of internal audit providing relevant information and advice.
  • Collecting, collating and analysing information to enable the monitoring of audit recommendations, risk areas, organisational learning and research.  Maintaining a database of corporate memory relating to this.
  • Preparing inputs to corporate and business group level reports and guidance ensuring that they are of high quality and delivered within timescale.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with external and internal stakeholders, ensuring that the MPS approach to risk and assurance is well understood and guidance is easily accessible.

This role holder will have a key influence on the development of the risk and assurance framework and the understanding of risk and assurance information. The role holder will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the production of risk and assurance reports to improve policing outcomes
  • Collating and maintaining a database of corporate memory relating to audit, risk, assurance and organisational learning.
  • Ensuring effective access to audit, risk and assurance information and guidance for internal stakeholders
  • Joining up services across Strategy
  • Supporting the effective day-to-day running of the Strategic Planning and Risk team.

The role holder will have a key part in supporting the development of business planning across the organisation alongside maintaining the reporting mechanisms in place. The role holder will be responsible for: 

  • Supporting the development of the Met’s business planning processes
  • Supporting engagement across the Met, partnering with business groups to develop their individual group business plans.
  • Collating quarterly reports, data gathering and communication with Business Groups.
  • Assisting in raising and maintaining the overall profile of Strategy across the business.
  • Responding proactively to requests and work effectively with others to undertake focused activity to meet and deliver priorities.

Note: In addition you may from time to time be required to undertake additional duties necessary to meet the needs of the Met; such duties to be commensurate with the responsibilities and grading of the post.
