Applications are invited for the post of Information Access Officer within Data Protection Information Access Team based at Hutton Headquarters. The site is accessible by public transport and there is also free car parking on site. 

The purpose of this role is responding to requests made to Lancashire Constabulary under Data Protection legislation and the Freedom Of Information Act.

Subject Access Requests are made under Data Protection legislation, and this role involves locating personal information about the applicant and determining what can be provided to them lawfully. This involves researching police systems and carrying out redactions both in electronic records and video recordings.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • To process correspondence/enquiries in line with established procedures for the handling and disclosure of information relevant to Data Protection and Freedom of Information and associated legislation
  • To identify and assess any matter relating to an application for information which may be relevant, whether it be an individual applying for their own personal records under the Data Protection Act organisational information under Freedom of information.
  • To conduct database and record interrogation, so as to collate any information that may be required for disclosure.  To assess the information taking in to consideration the accuracy, sensitivity and confidentiality and application of the relevant legislation, such as relevant exemptions, prior to preparing for and disclosing to all necessary relevant parties within agreed timescales
  • To ensure maintenance of accurate records and evaluation of data on/from Constabulary database systems
  • To handle enquiries and process applications/ requests for /disclosure of information in line with agreements between the Constabulary and a number of external organisations acting in accordance with Home Office / NPCC directives or in line with formalised procedures as directed by the Constabulary

Vetting:

Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting prior to commencing their role.

Please be aware there is a minimum 3 year UK residency required for Recruitment Vetting.
